15 Weeks!!

Sorry, I am not very good at self portraits. But you get the gist of it.

Size- The baby is the size of a softball!!

Symptoms- I got sick yesterday a couple of times but other than that I have been feeling fabulous. I am slowly regaining my appetite and I have much more energy. In fact I don't even know what to do with all of this new found energy, so I have been cleaning a lot.

Cravings- I have ALWAYS been a fruit lover. I make sure our fridge is filled with fruit at all times for major snacking sessions. The other night I woke up at 3:00AM needing wanting grapes. So I had a binge fest and it felt so right. Cheese strings are also my bestfriends. I better add perogies, chocolate & sushi. I can only eat sushi (cooked of course) when I go into town once a month and boy oh boy it seems to taste better every time.

Mood- Still pleasant. I just feel exhausted by 9:00pm which is so not like this night hawk.

Weight- I have only gained 4 1/2 lbs which is shocking to me. I feel like I have gained at least 20!!

I now live in tights, and I totally hike them up/over my belly button... sooooooooo hot. I can't wait for J to see how much my bump has grown in real life :) Only four more days woooweeee!!!

A Crisp Beach Day

I LOVE seeing that sun shining bright on a warm winter day. Unfortunately on the East coast you don't see that very often. The pups and I thought we would take advantage of it at my most favourite place in the world, the beach!!

Hey big bird!

I made sure Lily was close by!!

When the eagle left, Maple swam across the river to take the eagles leftovers. Ew!!

Having so much fun!

I don't understand how she can handle the frigid Atlantic Ocean. I have a hard time swimming in it in July!

My pretty model, Lily doesn't sit so still

The Truth About My First Trimester

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! We made it through the first trimester!!!!!

The moment a mother finds out your pregnant, you hear absolutely every gory detail about their own experience. It's so funny because things that you thought were taboo to talk about totally go out the window once you have experienced a pregnancy. I find it hysterical because I am already disgustingly open, and love hearing women who are normally reserved or perfect strangers start talking about vagina's, discharge, boobs, sex, etc.  I have loved hearing details as I have found some of it quite helpful, it also makes me feel like I have joined some sort of elite woman/motherhood club. That being said I would just like to express that every woman is different.

The truth to my first trimester

You are going to LOVE your boobs! - No actually, I loved my boobs. Now they feel like I am going through puberty all over again. They have grown so huge and they are so veiny, they look so ridiculous. I had to go out and buy a whole bunch of large shirts just to fit these monsters. I have to wear a sports bra to bed, otherwise I wake up from sore achey boobs. I have to keep reminding myself, these huge utters are going to be giving a precious angel life. What a gift!!

You won't have a period for a long time!- Well then what is this blood doing on the toilet paper when I wipe. It's not a period, it worse! It's called spotting. Some women get it some women don't. But for us women it does happen to it causes extreme anxiety. You automatically think the worst.....  My doctor said its quite normal, and there is nothing to worry about unless you'er filling pads. I spotted for two weeks and to this day I check the t.p every time I wipe!! Every woman is different.

Guilt free eating for 9 months!- I don't get why they call it morning sickness, it definitely doesn't occur in just the morning. If I wasn't puking I was dry heaving. I also don't have any kind of appetite. The thought of meat makes me cringe.

Your hair will be FABULOUS!-I already suffer from extreme shedding. Now it's way worse! It is coming out in handfuls.

I am already a really emotional person, so I find it hilarious how I am crying during pampers commercials, 649 lotto commercials, for every movie preview that has soft music playing in the back ground, omg and this song I cry my face off everytime, everything really just makes me weep. J & I are actually pretty shocked at how I am not even a little moody. I am the WORST when I am pmsing so we thought I would be the most horrific pregnant women. Nope, I am a saint :p. Of course I have my days, but who doesn't??

It was absolutely amazing when I heard our babies heartbeat for the first time. It makes all of this SO worth it. The womans body is so amazing, I am so proud to be carrying this precious life within me.

We love babies

I had such a great day yesterday and would love to share it with you!

It started off with a yummy blueberry pancake breakfast at my gf Catherine's house. Then we were off to the "big" city of Sydney to go to my Dr. appointment. It was +8C so that helped brighten our day.

This appointment I was really anxious for because I was hoping to hear my babies heartbeat for the first time!!! I was a little sad J couldn't be there with me but happy my friend Cat came for support and company :) The Dr. was feeling around with the doppler for a couple of minutes and being a concerned pregnant lady I was watching every single movement. She shook her head a couple of times and immediately I said "what? what? What's wrong?!" I was in panic mode. She said "If we can't find the heartbeat today, we will send you off for an early ultrasound. But we will keep looking for this stubborn babies heartbeat" After a couple minutes longer she moves the doppler closer to my bellybutton and finds it!!!! Ahhhhh the sound of relief, joy, excitement, LIFE, MY BABIES HEARTBEAT!!! What a special gift to have something so special growing inside of me. I can't wait for J to hear it. Now I am counting down the days until the ultrasound. I can only imagine how exciting that will be.

We had a forty minute time slot before quiet time to go visit Anne, Michee, and baby Noah at the hospital. So we raced over there and I was able to me the most amazing little man. Ugh I love him so much. They had a very healthy 7lb 8oz beautiful baby boy named Noah. It was so precious to hear & see how proud they are. They shared the moment of when they first met him and I can't wait to experience that for myself. All is well with them and they are hopefully coming home today. I can't wait to kiss and snuggle him some more.
Handsome little dude

Cat & I were starved and I was shocked to find out she had never had sushi. So we sped on over to the one and only sushi joint in Cape Breton, Oka Maki. They don't have a big menu but J and I go there every second time we venture into Sydney. We have found many rolls we love, I was excited to share the cooked ones with Catherine. She did pretty good with the chopsticks :p

Please Don't Go

I'll let you all in on a little secret. Whenever J leaves me for work, I always press repeat on one of the cheesiest song I know. I have played it so much it ranks number two on our prestigious "top 25 most played" playlist on  the ipod.

#1 This Years Love - David Gray

#2 Please Don't Go-Mike Posner

Non-pregnant Jenna would be dancing around the house doing a very non-sexy dance for J. Not this time, this hormonal pregnant gal is ugly crying the day away and has this on repeat as J leaves for work tomorrow. Good news is I will see him in twenty days. Bad news is, it looks like I will be moving back to Manitoba sooner than planned. FEBRUARY 1rst!!! EEEEEEEKKKKK

The Calm Before The Storm

Whenever we go to Anne and Michee's house we always end up spending at least 5 hours longer than anticipated over at their place. This evening was actually 8 hours longer than planned. This time was a little different then most. We arrived to have a coffee with them and they had some crazy french polka sounding music playing, but there was this sense of calm masking the quirky tunes pouring out of the speakers. They are about to give birth any day now! So we wanted to get a quick little visit in before the wonderful chaotic mess begins.

I bombarded Anne with a billion and ten questions about how she was feeling, what she expects, how she has felt during her pregnancy etc. I am sure I had already asked her many of the questions before, but this time was a bit different. She is so READY! Michee and her had this serene sense of calmness. Of course they are a bit anxious about what's to come, but they have read all of the books, prepped the rooms, have the over night bag ready and are all set for this next journey!! They are going to be the best parents, this sweet babe doesn't know yet just how much it's going to be loved.

J & I are pretty good at making things weird, so after an intense game of Rummie 500, I decided it was time for an impromptu photoshoot.
Now that's a belly <3 She was due January.11th. Come onnnnn baby

xo

<3

Anuk doesn't understand what's going on either

The happy parents to be :)

hmmmm

Let's all be like Michee

Conor, Hannah & the Shoe Shop

Guess who we got to meet up with in Halifax?! Yep! You guessed it, our favourite Irishman.. Conor!!!! I had talked about how we met this crazy man here. Anywho, we met up with him at the shoe shop for a couple of drinks. A couple of drinks ended up to be a couple 5. I drank waaaaayyy to many virgin caesars and club sodas, it was insane. We had a great time, filled with many laughs, just as we expected. Love that man. So happy to hear he has fallen in love with the East Coast, now he just needs to fall in love with Morgan and my life will be complete. (p.s. Why can't every man have an Irish accent?)
xo

Cousins

Two of my cousins share something soooo special with me!

I have talked about Rhianna and her amazing voice on here more than a few times. This post has nothing to do with her voice, as we definitely don't share the talented singing voice. I am WAY better! What we do share is a love for the Hopkins Hunks. During the wedding week we definitely teased my beautiful cousin and my handsome brother in law on numerous occasions about the fact that they should be dating. All of our hard work paid off!! As off last month, they officially started dating! Uhhhhm Sister Cousins? Yes, Please!!!

 How fun is that?

Now, my other cousin Erin is expecting as well. We just found out our due dates are only two days apart!! How exciting would that be if we had our babes the same day?!

Bonne Fête Dear Michee!!!

We had such a great time celebrating Michee's Birthday. J & I are so lucky to have such great friends here in Cape Breton. xo

The three of us gals are all at totally different stages of pregnancy, so it was fun to talk baby bumps :D
